The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), formerly the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program, is an economic immigration program that nominates people for permanent residence in Alberta. Nominees must have skills to fill job shortages or be planning to buy or start a business in Alberta. They must also be able to provide for their families. The program is run by the governments of Alberta and Canada.
If you are nominated through the program, you may apply for permanent residence status together with your spouse or common-law partner, and dependent children.
Streams for workers
Alberta Opportunity Stream
At the time your application is submitted, and at the time the AAIP assesses your application, you must have a valid work permit – not status maintained during processing (formerly implied status) or restoration status.
a) Valid work permits.

C) Language proficiency

As of January 1, 2021, at the time your application is submitted, you must have completed a minimum of high school education equivalent to Canadian standards.

Your current occupation must also match your work experience at the time your application is submitted and at the time the AAIP assesses your application.
Alberta Express Entry Stream
The Alberta Express Entry Stream allows Alberta to nominate a limited number of qualified candidates from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s Express Entry system.
Steps: 1. Candidates must have an Express Entry profile with the Government of Canada to be considered under this stream
2. The AAIP determines if candidates meet the minimum eligibility criteria to apply. Candidates who meet minimum eligibility criteria will receive an email inviting them to apply.
3. Candidates determine if they meet assessment criteria and submit an application.
Rural Renewal Stream
The Rural Renewal Stream supports the attraction and retention of newcomers to rural Alberta through a community-driven approach that supports local economic development needs and contributes to the growth of the community.

Streams for entrepreneurs
Rural Entrepreneur
Entrepreneurs who want to start a business or buy an existing business in a rural Alberta community can submit an Expression of Interest.

Graduate Entrepreneur Stream
The Graduate Entrepreneur Stream allows the AAIP to nominate qualified international graduates from Alberta post-secondary institutions who want to establish or operate a business in Alberta to apply for permanent residence.

Farm
This stream is for entrepreneurs who have the financial resources and farm management experience to establish a new or purchase an existing farm in Alberta.
Candidates must submit their application, along with a proposed business plan, to the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) for assessment. The AAIP will consult with Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation to ensure the business plan is feasible and viable, and meets the needs of Alberta’s agriculture industry.
Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur
The Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream is an economic immigration program for qualified foreign educated graduates from outside of Canada who want to launch start-up enterprises and innovative businesses in Alberta.
The program enables the province to select and nominate foreign workers, international students and entrepreneurs to help meet B.C.’s labour market needs, support government priorities, and help grow B.C.’s economy. If you are nominated, you and your family can apply to IRCC to become a permanent resident of Canada.
BC PNP Tech
BC PNP Tech has supported more than 6,000 tech workers to be nominated for permanent residence since its launch in May 2017. This initiative gives in-demand foreign workers and international students a pathway to permanent residence, so they can help grow our economy and build a great life here in B.C.
Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP)
In 2018, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) launched the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP) to provide complementary pathways to permanent residence for skilled refugees. The EMPP helps employers find skilled refugees for positions that can’t be filled domestically due to British Columbia’s labour shortages.
Entrepreneur Immigration
To support balanced and strong economic development throughout the province, the Entrepreneur Immigration (EI) Regional Pilot was launched in 2019. The EI Regional Pilot is based on collaboration between communities and the provincial government to attract and identify foreign entrepreneurs proposing businesses that are in line with community economic development priorities. The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) offers three streams, with their respective pathways, through which you can immigrate to the province of Manitoba and become a permanent resident of Canada.
Skill Worker
This stream nominates applicants who have a strong connection to Manitoba through ongoing employment and sufficient skills, education and training, work experience and official language proficiency to make an immediate and ongoing contribution to the Manitoba economy and community at large. There are two pathways under the Skilled Worker Stream:

- Skilled Worker in Manitoba for who can demonstrate ongoing Manitoba employment as they established connection to Manitoba.

- Skilled Worker Overseas for who can demonstrate an established connection to Manitoba through either
- the support of family members or friends (Manitoba Support),
- previous education or work experience in the province (Manitoba Experience), or
-
- an Invitation to Apply received directly from the MPNP as part of a Strategic Recruitment Initiative (Manitoba Invitation).

International Education
The International Education Stream (IES) for Manitoba graduates is dedicated to providing international students graduating in Manitoba and meeting the needs of industry faster pathways to nomination. There are three pathways:

- Career Employment Pathway for post-secondary students who graduate and find long-term employment in Manitoba in an in-demand occupation consistent with their training.

- Graduate Internship Pathway for international student master and doctoral graduates through internships contributing to industry innovation in Manitoba.

- International Student Entrepreneur Pilot (ISEP) for up to 20 (per calendar year) international students who have graduated in Manitoba the opportunity to pursue entrepreneurship rather than employment.
If you are an international student who graduated in another province of Canada, you will not be eligible under this stream but may be eligible under the Skilled Worker in pathway.
Business Investor
The Business Investor Stream (BIS) allows Manitoba to recruit and nominate qualified business investors and entrepreneurs from around the world who have the intent and ability to start or purchase businesses in Manitoba. There are two pathways:

- the Entrepreneur Pathway (EP) for applicants seeking to open a business in Manitoba; and
-
- the Farm Investor Pathway (FIP) for those intending to establish and operate a farm operation in rural Manitoba.
As an economic program, the NBPNP selects, and nominates, qualified business people and skilled workers from around the world who will live in New Brunswick and contribute to the local economy.
Express Entry Stream
The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) has developed and launched its Express Entry Labour Market Stream (EELMS). This stream allows the NBPNP to use CIC’s Express Entry system to meet New Brunswick’s specific labour market and demographic needs.
Skilled Worker Stream
The New Brunswick Skilled Worker Stream is designed for Foreign Nationals who possess the skills, education and work experience needed to contribute to New Brunswick’s economy. Candidates must meet the program’s minimum eligibility requirements, have a genuine offer of employment from a New Brunswick Employer and have the full intent to live and work in the province on a permanent basis.
Application processing priority is being given to the following categories of applications in our inventory:

The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) provides prospective immigrants with in-demand skills and experience the opportunity to become a part of this eastern province’s growing workforce through its Express Entry Skilled Worker, Skilled Worker, and International Graduate streams of immigration.
Express Entry
This category is for skilled individuals who have been accepted into Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s Express Entry pool and who have a job offer in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Express Entry Skilled Worker Category is a path to immigration to Newfoundland and Labrador whereby skilled individuals who have been accepted into Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada’s Express Entry pool; who have a job offer in Newfoundland and Labrador; and, who have the intent to reside permanently in this province can be nominated. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has committed to processing 80 per cent of all Express Entry candidates within six months of receiving the application.
Requirements:
- Applicants must be accepted into Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Express Entry pool. To confirm registration in the Express Entry pool, applicants are required to provide their Express Entry Profile Number (E plus nine digits).
- Applicants must have a high-skilled job or job from a NL employer based on the National Occupational Code (NOC) classification system.
Skilled Worker
This category is for individuals who have a guaranteed offer of employment from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer, or are already working in the province on a valid Work Permit.
The NLPNP Skilled Worker category exists to nominate individuals who have specialized skills that are deemed as having a critical impact on the operations of an employer in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Requirements:
- Have a full-time job offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer, or a job or job offer that has compensation in the form of a salary and benefits package that meets provincial employment standards and prevailing wage rates.
- Have an Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Work Permit or is entitled to apply for one; Work permits that are submitted with the PNP application must have duration of six months remaining prior to expiry date.
- Have the qualifications, training, skills, and/or accreditation required for the job;
- Can demonstrate the intention and ability to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador;
- Have a job or job offer that does not contravene existing bargaining unit agreements or any employment disputes;
- Can demonstrate that you have sufficient settlement funds and financial resources to successfully establish yourself and any dependents in Newfoundland and Labrador;
- Your employer (or future employer) can demonstrate a need for your skill set; and
- Can demonstrate sufficient English or French language capability to perform the employment duties.
International Graduate
This category is for recent graduates who have a Post-Graduate Work Permit and a job or job offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer.
The NLPNP International Graduate Category is for international students who have graduated from a recognized post-secondary educational institution in Canada, to be considered for nomination for permanent residence in Canada.
Requirements:
- Have completed at least half of your studies in Canada and have graduated from an eligible publicly funded Canadian college or university (students must send proof of graduation with their application).
- Have completed a minimum of a two-year diploma or degree program, while studying on a full-time basis. One-year post-graduate degree programs and certificate programs which require a previous degree or diploma (which may have been obtained abroad), are also eligible.
- Have a full-time job offer in your field of study, or a related field of study, from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer;
- Have legal status to work in Canada; that is to say, have an Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Post-Graduate Work Permit. Work permits that are submitted with the PNP application must have duration of six months remaining prior to expiry date.
- Have a job or job offer that does not contravene existing bargaining unit agreements or any employment disputes;
- Can demonstrate that you have sufficient settlement funds and financial resources to successfully establish yourself and any dependents in Newfoundland and Labrador;
- Have the qualifications, training, skills, and accreditation required for the job;
- Can demonstrate the intention and ability to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Have a job or job offer that has compensation in the form of a salary and benefits package that meets provincial employment standards and prevailing wage rates.
- Have a job or job offer that has opportunity for advancement;
- Have a job or job offer that does not contravene existing bargaining unit agreements or any employment disputes;
- Can demonstrate that you have sufficient financial resources to successfully establish yourself and any dependents in Newfoundland and Labrador;
- Can demonstrate sufficient English or French language capability to perform the employment duties.
- If you completed your studies at a recognized post-secondary institute outside of Newfoundland and Labrador, you may be required to work in a job that is in your field of study for a minimum of 1 year prior to submission of your PNP application.

Individuals nominated by the Northwest Territories are eligible to apply for permanent residency through Citizenship and Immigration Canada as part of the Provincial Nominee stream three streams.
Northwest Territories Express Entry
This stream gives skilled workers in the federal Express Entry pool the opportunity to partake in an accelerated permanent residence application. Candidates must have a job offer from an eligible Northwest Territories employer.
Employer-Driven Stream
The Employer-Driven Stream is for employers who want to hire and nominate foreign nationals when there are no Canadians or Canadian Permanent Residents available.
A. Skilled Worker
This stream is designed to attract qualified individuals that will assist with shortages of skilled workers in the Northwest Territories. This stream is for skilled occupations for which formal education and/or specialized training is required. These occupations are within the National Occupational Classification, Skill Levels 0, A, and B.
B. Critical Impact Worker
This stream is intended to assist employers with critical labour shortages that cannot be filled by local or Canadian residents and is designed to increase the labour pool for entry level jobs described within the National Occupational Classification skill levels C and D.
Foreign Nationals must have worked in the same position for six (6) months and be in compliance with their temporary foreign worker permit.
Business Stream
The Business Stream is for people who want to start a business in the NWT, purchase an existing business based here, or invest in and operate an existing business based here.

Through the NSNP, prospective immigrants who have the skills and experience targeted by Nova Scotia may be nominated to immigrate. The province operates several immigration streams:
Labor Market Priorities
The Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities stream selects candidates in the federal Express Entry system who meet provincial labour market needs to apply for nomination. Only candidates who receive a Letter of Interest from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration may apply.
Physician
The Physician Stream assists Nova Scotia’s public health authorities – the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) and the Izaak Walton Killam Health Centre (IWK) – to hire general practitioners, family physicians, and specialist physicians to work in Nova Scotia.
Entrepreneur
The Entrepreneur Stream is for experienced business owners or senior business managers who want to live in Nova Scotia. They must start a new business or buy an existing business and must actively participate in the day-to-day management of the business. After operating the business for a year, the entrepreneur may be nominated for permanent resident status.
International Graduate Entrepreneur
The International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream is for recent graduates of a Nova Scotia university or the Nova Scotia Community College. They must have already started or bought a Nova Scotia business and operated it for at least a year.
International Graduates in Demand
The International Graduates in Demand stream is for recent international graduates whose skills and education match specific National Occupational Classification (NOC) job categories. This stream is currently open to workers in 2 NOC job categories:
- NOC 33102: nurse aides, orderlies, and patient service associates
- NOC 42202: early childhood educators and assistants
Skilled Worker
The Skilled Worker stream helps employers recruit foreign workers and recently graduated international students whose skills are needed in Nova Scotia. An employer can only hire foreign workers for positions they have been unable to fill with permanent residents or Canadian citizens.
Occupations in Demand
The Occupations in Demand stream targets specific TEER category 3, 4 or 5 occupations of the National Occupational Classification that are in high labour market demand in Nova Scotia.
Express Entry
The Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry stream selects highly skilled individuals who wish to live in Nova Scotia permanently. Applicants must have at least one year of experience working in Nova Scotia in an occupation at TEER category 0, 1, 2, or 3 of the National Occupational Classification.

The OINP recognizes and nominates people for permanent residence who have the skills and experience the Ontario economy needs, and the Government of Canada makes the final decision to approve applications for permanent residence.
Ontario Express Entry
Ontario has created two new streams for skilled workers who want to live and work permanently in Ontario. The two new streams draw from the Federal Express Entry selection system.
- Ontario Express Entry: Human Capital Priorities Stream
- Ontario Express Entry: French- Speaking Worker Stream
This enables Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) to nominate individuals that have qualified for Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s Express Entry Pool and who have the required education, skilled work experience, language ability, and other factors to help them successfully establish and integrate into Ontario’s labour market and communities.
Foreign Worker with Job Offer
To be eligible to apply, a foreign worker must have a job offer that meets the following criteria:
- be an approved permanent, full-time job offer in a highly skilled occupation (NOC 0, A or B), and
- meets the prevailing wage levels in Ontario for that occupation.
The foreign worker must also:
- have two years of relevant work experience in the last five years, or the relevant mandatory licensing in Ontario for a regulated occupation, and
- be residing abroad or residing, working or visiting Canada on a valid work permit, study permit or visitor record.
International Student Category
International students who will soon be graduating, or who are recent graduates from a publicly assisted Canadian college or university and have a permanent full-time job offer from an Ontario employer, may have the opportunity to live and work permanently in Ontario through the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP). Note that eligible Masters Graduates and PhD Graduates are not required to have a job offer to apply to the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program.
You could also be eligible to stay in Ontario and get a post-graduation work permit – for up to 3 years (depending on the length of your studies) – after you graduate. You may be eligible to apply to stay in Canada permanently under the Canadian Express Entry Class (CEC) or under Ontario Immigration Nominee Program.

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP), a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), is a collection of immigration pathways that target immigrants with business acumen, skilled workers, and young graduates who are fresh from post-secondary education. PEI Labour Impact
The Labour Impact Category focuses on the ever changing labour market needs of Prince Edward Island’s innovative and primary industries. While Prince Edward Island’s labour force is quite small and many industries are seasonal, labour market gaps are a reality and finding new employees, within Canada, who have the right skill sets, can be a challenge for many Prince Edward Island businesses.
The Labour Impact Category facilitates and provides opportunity for Prince Edward Island businesses and potential new employees from outside of Canada, who have the right skill set to immigrate, work and settle in Prince Edward Island.
There are three streams from which an applicant can choose:
Skilled Worker
Prince Edward Island employers that have identified or hired a foreign worker (in or outside PEI)may support that worker to obtain permanent residency to Canada through the PEI PNP Skilled Worker Stream. Those potential nominees who possess the necessary skills and fall under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill level O, A or B are eligible provided they have obtained a post-secondary degree/diploma and experience in the intended profession. Furthermore, specific criteria must be satisfied to be nominated under the program.
Critical Worker
Foreign workers with at least two years of relevant experience in semi-skilled and unskilled occupations may be eligible to apply for the Critical Worker stream.
International Graduate
Recent graduates from an approved PEI post-secondary institution who are currently working in the province with a valid Post-Graduate Work Permit can apply for permanent residency through this immigration stream.
PEI Entrepreneur
Work Permit
This stream is for foreign nationals with business ownership or extensive management experience who would like to move to PEI to start their business, and eventually become a permanent resident. Successful applicants will be issued a temporary work permit from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) offers you a way to immigrate to Canada. Through the SINP, Saskatchewan:
- Invites residency applications from non-Canadians who want to make Saskatchewan their home.
- Nominates successful applicants to the federal government, so they can gain permanent residency in Canada.

- Who are living abroad or in Canada; and
- Meet the criteria of the sub-category.
Tech Talent Pathway
This sub-category is for high-skilled technology and innovation sector workers who:
- Have a job offer for a high-skilled occupation in Saskatchewan;
- Are either living in Canada or abroad;
- Meet the criteria of the sub-category; and,
- May be in the immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Express Entry Pool (not required).
Occupation In-Demand
This sub-category is for skilled workers who:
- Do not have a job offer in Saskatchewan but are highly skilled in an in-demand occupation;
- Who are living abroad or in Canada; and
- Meet the criteria of the sub-category.
Saskatchewan Express Entry
This sub-category is for skilled workers who:
- Do not have a job offer in Saskatchewan;
- Who are living abroad or in Canada;
- Are in the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Express Entry Pool; and
- Meet the criteria of the sub-category.
Hard-to-Fill Skills Pilot
This sub-category is for intermediate and lower-skilled workers who:
- Have a job offer for an eligible intermediate or low-skilled occupation in Saskatchewan;
- Are either living in Canada or abroad;
- Meet the criteria of the pilot
Worker with Saskatchewan Work Experience
This category is for foreign workers who: are currently working and living in Saskatchewan on a valid work permit; and would like to apply for permanent residency through the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP).

The Yukon labor market is in express need for foreign skilled workers to fill the high demand for skilled and semi-skilled occupations. The Yukon territory operates the following immigration streams:
Yukon Skilled Worker
This Stream is for qualified workers who have a valid job offer from Yukon Employer and must fit into National Occupation Classification (NOC) 0, A and B categories. Applicants must have a valid work permit and valid temporary resident status to remain eligible for the YNP.
Yukon Express Entry
This Stream is for skilled workers who fit into National Occupation Classification (NOC) 0, A and B. Express Entry helps eligible economic immigrants find permanent work in Yukon when employers cannot find Canadians or permanent residents for job openings.
To qualify for Yukon’s Express Entry stream, an applicant must have a valid job offer for full-time, permanent work from an eligible Yukon employer and meet the requirements of one of the three eligible federal economic immigration programs. These programs have minimum language requirements, and education and other qualifications will be assessed against Canadian standards.
Yukon Critical Impact Worker
This Stream is for qualified workers who have a valid job offer from Yukon Employer and must fit into National Occupation Classification (NOC) C and D categories. You must have a valid work permit and valid temporary resident status to remain eligible for the YNP.
Yukon Business Nominee
This stream provides a pathway to permanent residence for individuals with business and entrepreneurial experience who are interested in owning and operating a business in the Yukon. Applicants must have a minimum personal net worth of $500,000 CAD, in addition to meeting other program requirements.
Yukon Community Pilot
This is a new stream of the Yukon Nominee Program. This pilot was created to address the specific economic and labour market needs of the Yukon. Qualified candidates will be granted a 2-year location-restricted open work permit.
